Counseling and Psychotherapy, while similar in nature and often used interchangeably, are different services.  Counseling tends to be generally used to describe a brief treatment that is focused mostly upon developmental issues and behavior, while psychotherapy is generally a longer term treatment which focuses more on gaining insight into emotional problems. It's focus is on the clients thought processes and perspective of the world rather than specific problems.  In actual practice there is quite a bit of overlap between the two.

Shena is a trained psychotherapist who uses an eclectic approach to treatment depending upon the problems being addressed in session.  She most often uses Cognitive Behavioral techniques including homework assignments due to a philosophical belief that feelings and behaviors needing to be changed are born of thoughts that need to be changed.  However, Shena believe that an effective therapist will have a toolbox of techniques to reach specific outcomes.

Fees and Payment for Counseling & Psychotherapy

Individuals and Couples= $125.00 per 50 minute session

Couples and Families=$185.00 per 80 minute session (1 hour 20 minutes)

Couples may choose their preference between 50 or 80 minute sessions.  Families (3 or more members) must choose the 80 minute sessions.

Insurance

Shena is a preferred provider for United Behavioral Healthcare.  Benefits will be discussed when scheduling an appointment.  You are responsible for paying your copay on the date of services.  You may also ask your insurance company about reimbursement for out- of-network providers.
